How to like a story in the News app for iPhone and iPad

In order to better tailor articles to your tastes, the News app automatically takes stock of your favorite channels and what you read. You can further narrow your reading options by using the Like button. There are two ways to do it.

You can like an article you're reading:

  1. Launch the News app from your Home screen.
  2. Tap a news article.
  3. Tap the Love button on the bottom center of your screen. It's the heart.

To dislike an article, tap the heart with a line through it.

The other way to like or dislike a story is as follows:

  3. Tap Love Story.

  4. Swipe right on an article.

How to share articles with the News app for iPhone and iPad

Sometimes the best part of reading the news is spreadin' the news. You can share from within an article:

  1. Launch the News app from your Home screen.
  2. Tap an article to read it.
  3. Tap the Share button in the bottom lefthand corner of your screen. It's the box with the upwards arrow.
  4. Tap a sharing method like Facebook, Message, or AirDrop.

Here's how to share an article from outside the article:

  1. Launch the News app from your Home screen.
  2. Swipe left on an article.
  3. Tap Share.
  4. Tap a sharing method, like Message, Facebook, or Mail.

How to save articles and read them later in the News app for iPhone and iPad

Don't have time to read an article right now, or want to get back to a longer piece later in the day? You can bookmark it.

  1. Launch the News app from your Home screen.
  2. Swipe left on an article.
  3. Tap the Save button.

And you can save it using 3D Touch:

  1. Launch the News app from your Home screen.
  2. Press firmly on an article.
  3. Swipe up to reveal the options.
  4. Tap Save.

  1. Launch the News app from your Home screen.
  2. Tap the Saved button in the bottom righthand corner of your screen.
  3. Tap the article you'd like to read.

  2. Tap Browse in the bottom right corner.
  3. Tap Saved Stories from the menu. You'll need to scroll down to the bottom of the page.

Apple News User Guide

You can save stories in Apple News to read later. Stories that you recently saved are available even when you’re not connected to the internet.

Save stories

  1. In the News app on your Mac, click a story to view it.

  2. Choose File > Save Story or press Command-S.

View saved stories

  1. In the News app on your Mac, in the sidebar (if you don’t see it, click in the toolbar), click Saved Stories.

  2. Click a saved story to view it.

    To return to the list of saved stories, click the Back button in the toolbar.

Unsave stories

  1. In the News app on your Mac, view a saved story.

  2. Choose File > Unsave Story or press Command-S.

To access your saved stories on all your devices, sign in with the same Apple ID on each device, then turn on News in iCloud preferences or settings.
