There are two basic ways that I like to go about keeping often-used apps in the Dock. The first way is to simply right-click on the app icon in the dock → Options → and select Keep in Dock. Once you do this, the app will stay permanently affixed in the Dock, even if you close the app. Go to System Preferences → Users & Groups. Switch to the Login Items tab. I use Chrome and don't use Safari. I had initially done: Right click > Options and ensured that 'Open at login' was unchecked. I then removed Safari from the dock. But since last week, every time I log in, Safari pops up in the dock.

I have alread checked:

1. System Preferences > Users & Groups > My Username > Login Items Safari is not in the list.

2. HD >Library > LaunchAgents Safari is not there; HD >Library > StartUpItems empty.

Stop

Unlike the other apps, Safari no longer has a 'Remove from dock' option.

I don't know what else to try and I'd appreciate any suggestions.
